The theater is located slightly off center with respect to the sanctuary. Attributed to the architect Pol
ycleitus the Younger, who was active in the fourth century BC, it is one of the best preserved examples in the whole of the ancient world. The \b \cf1 \ATXht3 cavea\b0 \cf0 \ATXht0 is divided in two by a two-meter wide corridor (diazoma); a second corri
dor ran along the top of the theater, above the fifty-fifth tier. The three lowest rows were made up of seats with backs and were reserved for the authorities. \par
